About Jenny
I have studied Pilates and yoga and delved deeply into dance and martial arts, weight training and TRX. The jumping off point for me when I meet clients is a static postural analysis which I first studied as part of my pilates teacher training, but then we move into some movement tests and practices that allow me to see how somebody moves functionally, not just how they stand still.
Two big parts of my journey were the 10 years I struggled with low back pain and recovery from childbirth. Both of these experiences in addition to having an aging body and trying to stay active in my 40’s has made me feel humble over and over again, that whether it was physical therapy or personal training, pills or surgery, strength or release work, that pain and dysfunction happen to everybody at some point in their life and that a one-size-fits-all approach (including only one modality) truly doesn’t work.
One of the major pieces missing is looking at the whole person, including not only body but also mind, heart, nervous system, spirit. Sometimes that means restorative yoga, sometimes that means pushing people to use heavier springs or pick up heavy dumbbells, sometimes it’s a bit of everything in one session!
